In which Oyuki stops to clear her mind at an onsen while journeying back to the Red Crane Inn.
By the time Oyuki rode away from the dye house, the shadows had slanted into long, black cuts across the river valley and the sunlight was as hazy as rice water. She had set out intending to arrive at the Red Crane Inn in time for an evening performance, hoping the music would help her regain her focus, but a short distance beyond the crossroads east of the dye house she came across three ronin on foot who spread out to block the road the moment they saw her approaching.
